Chic for Cheap: Julie Chang’s Master Bedroom

Two words: Elephant. Gray.

Sir Benjamin Moore has done it again with this not exactly gray, not exactly lavender, not exactly pale, not exactly dark paint color and let me tell you it is ON POINT! Julie Chang’s bedroom was already naturally dark with very little natural light coming through, but instead of fighting it we decided to embrace the darkness by using this cozy, grayish-purple hue. If you’re looking to spice up your bedroom (and quite possibly your love life) I suggest you run, not walk to your nearest paint store.

I have a couple other little secrets to share with you about this room – the first being the dresser. Ikea!!! By swapping out the knobs for these fab mother of pearl ones from Anthropologie we created this totally chic, expensive looking dresser. The side tables were a vintage find for $150 and painted in Benjamin Moore‘s Hale Navy (another one of my favorite colors!) Throw on a couple of our Dreamweaver finials on those simple glass lamps and tie it all together with Merida’s gorgeous ombre rug and you have yourself a sexy chic oasis.

rug: Celerie Kemble by Merida (Tremor in Fickle) / bed: Gilt Home / bedding: Charisma / chandelier: Ballard Designs / throw pillow: remnant Kelly Wearstler Bengal Bazaar fabric (similar here) / paint: “Elephant Gray” by Benjamin Moore

dresser: Ikea / knobs: Anthropologie / painting: thrift store find

frame: Ikea / bookends: Hillary Thomas / leaf dish: Hillary Thomas (call for details)

¬†nightstands: vintage from House Candy LA, painted “Hale Navy” by Benjamin Moore / ¬†lamps: Lamps Plus / lamp finials: Dreamweaver by Hillary Thomas / vintage canister: Hillary Thomas (call for details)

Our gorgeous “Dreamweaver” lamp finial was the perfect touch, don’t you say?

Stay tuned for our final round-up of Julie’s uber-girly dressing room and connecting sun room later this week!
